Teaz

I was flicking through a magazine when i found this tea brand packaging design. It was a small article about the "Teaz" brand, saying what variety of tea herbal tea they sell, coming from different regions in Sri Lanka.

I like the simplicity of the design, and the way it incorporates type and image into one. I went onto the website of "Teaz" (www.teaz.co.nz) and found other products that they also sell. I found out that for every different flavour of tea they have used a different colour on the packaging. I find that a really smart idea because you can separate them from each other, and it makes them so much more individual.

The image of the tea cup is very simple and easy to see, without being abstract or random. The use of simple shapes and various lines also help with identifying the object.

The colours used are also very subtle and easy to the eyes, as they aren't too bright or distracting from the type used on the packaging.

I'm not really liking the font being used on the tea bag design, because its just one of those tacky typefaces that just makes everything look so crappy and cheap. I think the design would work so much better if a proper font was being used. Something that was more defined and eye-catching would be much better in my opinion.

Overall, i do like the concept of the tea bag designs using different colours for various types of tea, but i think the design needs to be worked on to make it more successful.
